Marsha Ambacher

Introduction:
My name is Marsha, and I, along with my husband Wayne and two young granddaughters Lexi and Hazel, currently reside on the scenic Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. As lifelong animal lovers, particularly of dogs and horses, my passion for raising and showing animals has shaped a significant part of my life. Although we became disenchanted with the limited show circuit in our Alaskan community, our journey took an exciting turn when we discovered Prague Ratters - a breed that has captivated our hearts. I love to share my experiences with Prague Ratters, highlighting their remarkable characteristics and the joy they have brought into our lives.
A Lifetime of Love for Animals:
From my early years, animals have held a special place in my heart. Raised amidst dogs and horses, I became accustomed to the joys and responsibilities that come with nurturing and training them. As an adult, I ventured into saddle seat riding, participating in Arabian horse shows across the country. Alongside horses, I raised Toy Poodles and Doberman Pinchers, actively participating in AKC shows and obedience trials. However, with limited opportunities in Alaska, I finally decided to retire from raising these breeds.
A Serendipitous Encounter:
In July 2018, while searching for a new canine companion, my son stumbled upon Prague Ratters - a breed that seemed incredibly promising. Intrigued by their remarkable qualities, he urged me to contact Carolyn Reynolds, an established Prague Ratters breeder. Excitement welled up within me as I spoke to Carolyn, and by October of the same year, my son and I became the proud owners of two Prague Ratter pups from unrelated breedings. Thus began my enduring passion for this unique breed.
Family Dogs at Heart:
Drawing on my three decades of experience in raising and training dogs, I have come to understand that a loving and well-trained dog in an  environment within a family is vital to the happiness and health of canines. This core belief led me to treat my Prague Ratters as cherished family members, allowing them free roam of our home. Every dog has a designated family member to sleep with, fostering an unbreakable bond. Though they are occasionally kenneled for short periods, our dogs enjoy a sense of freedom and belonging. Currently, we own three females, one Brown/Tan and one Black/Tan, one black/tan long hair and three males, including a long-haired Black/Tan and two short-haired Black/Tan.
The Beauty of Breeding:
As a small breeding program, I am committed to maintaining high standards and the well-being of each Prague Ratter in our care. Our first litter, born to "Hadassah" and "Laddie," brought us immense joy with four stunning females - two Brown/Tan, one Black/Tan, and a yellow-coated pup. Focusing on their mental stimulation, we start exposing the puppies to a range of surfaces at just two weeks old, promoting their cognitive development. Our pups are nurtured in a safe environment, socializing with other dogs, live-in grandchildren, neighbors, and friends. We continually engage them with various toys and environments to foster their growth. Moreover, potty training begins as early as three weeks, facilitating a smooth transition when they are ready to go to their forever homes.
A Commitment to Health and Quality:
In establishing my breeding program, I had the privilege of working closely with Carolyn Reynolds, a knowledgeable authority in Prague Ratters. Her expertise and experience helped me obtain quality dogs from carefully selected Czech kennels. Thy adherence to strict breeding practices within the Prague Ratters Czech Federation ensures that the breed remains free from significant health issues. I take great pride in registering my Prague Ratters with the Prague Ratters Club of America, and I am immensely grateful for the dedicated efforts of Kristin Boren.
