Marsha, alongside her husband Wayne and their granddaughters Lexi and Hazel, resides on the beautiful Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. A lifelong animal lover, Marsha’s passion for raising and showing animals spans decades—from Arabian horse competitions across the country to raising and exhibiting Toy Poodles and Doberman Pinschers in AKC events.
Her journey with Prague Ratters began in 2018 after a chance discovery that quickly turned into a deep passion. Since then, she has dedicated herself to raising this extraordinary breed, captivated by their intelligence, loyalty, and unique charm.
At North Star Gems, Marsha focuses on maintaining a small, high-quality breeding program where each dog is raised as a beloved family member. Puppies are nurtured in a home environment, receiving early neurological stimulation, socialization with children and other dogs, and foundational training starting at just a few weeks old.
With guidance from respected breeder Carolyn Reynolds, Marsha has carefully built a program rooted in strong genetics, ethical breeding practices, and a commitment to health and temperament. All dogs are registered with the Prague Ratters Club of America, reflecting her dedication to preserving and promoting the breed.
For Marsha, breeding is not just a program—it’s a lifelong passion centered on raising healthy, happy companions that bring joy to families for years to come.
Kandi is a highly skilled breeder and trainer, often lovingly referred to as our “Dog Whisperer.” Based in the Tri-Cities area of Finley, Washington, she works from her home raising and caring for some of our cherished Prague Ratters. With her calm approach and deep understanding of canine behavior, Kandi plays a vital role in our breeding program. We are incredibly grateful for her expertise, dedication, and the exceptional care she provides to our dogs.
Lexi is an important part of our daily operations, helping with the care and nurturing of our dogs and puppies. She has a natural talent for capturing beautiful photos and videos that showcase our puppies’ personalities. In addition, Lexi plays a key role in early puppy socialization, helping ensure each puppy grows into a confident, well-adjusted companion.
With over 10 years of experience in dog training, Bambi brings exceptional knowledge and passion to our team. She began her journey working with rescue dogs before discovering Prague Ratters in 2021—a breed she quickly fell in love with for their intelligence, charm, and eagerness to learn.
Known as our in-house “Dog Whisperer,” Bambi specializes in behavioral training and has a remarkable ability to understand and guide each dog’s unique personality. She has co-owned dogs with Marsha, including Paxyl, a red male Prague Ratter, and currently North Star Gems’ Krymson, a black and tan male. Her dedication and insight are invaluable to our program.
